Love to Code Academy runs in-person youth esports at 248 NE Barry Road in the Kansas City Northland, for students in grades K through 8. Students join a recreational team or a competitive team, and both meet after school with a coach in the room. Families come from North Kansas City, Gladstone, Liberty, Parkville, Riverside, Smithville, Kearney, and Platte City.
This is not a drop-off gaming club. Our esports coaches run the same character framework used in our coding and robotics programs, so every practice is coached on purpose.
We do not offer a free trial class for esports. Our free trial classes cover coding and robotics only, so the way to start esports is to enroll or contact us to schedule a campus visit and meet a coach first.
Most esports programs focus on competition. We focus on the person competing.
Our coaches develop students who know how to communicate under pressure, support teammates through difficult moments, and handle both wins and losses with integrity. The scoreboard is the arena. Character is the outcome.

Isn’t this just video games?
No. The game is the arena, not the point. Every session is coached and structured around the same character framework we use in coding and robotics, so students practice communication, self-control, and accountability with a coach correcting in real time. Parents get the kind of visible progress they would expect from a sports team, not an afternoon of unsupervised screen time.
What games do students play, and what ages is esports for?
Esports is open to students in grades K through 8, ages 5 through 14, and no prior competitive experience is required. Coaches select team-based, age-appropriate titles and set the roster for each season, so we confirm the current lineup with your family at enrollment or during a campus visit rather than publishing a list that changes.
What is the difference between recreational and competitive teams?
Recreational teams are for students new to structured team play, and the focus is fundamentals, communication, and belonging in a low-pressure setting. Competitive teams are for students ready for structured tournaments and a higher level of strategy and mental toughness. Both tracks develop the same character, the level of competition is the only difference, and a coach will help you choose the right starting point.
Where is the esports program held?
Every esports session runs in person at our academy at 248 NE Barry Road, Kansas City, MO 64155, in the Northland. Families drive in from North Kansas City, Gladstone, Liberty, Parkville, Riverside, Smithville, Kearney, and Platte City, most of them within 15 to 25 minutes. Esports meets as an after-school program.
